Dunbar and Charleston are participating in annual National Night Out events next Tuesday to connect residents with local law enforcement.
The Charleston Police Department and the Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority are hosting four events throughout the city that start at 6 p.m.
Orchard Manor, 900 Griffin Drive: Free food, games, a bounce house and children's identification cards from the FBI and U.S. Attorney's office
Carroll Terrace, 1546 Kanawha Blvd. E.: Free food with Charleston Fire Department and CPD
South Park Village, 680 South Park Road: Free food, DJ, resource booth and face painting
900 block of Sixth Street: Free food
CPD Sgt. Travis Bailes said there would be at least two CPD officers at every event. He said National Night Out helps the public connect with the CPD in a positive way. He hopes that the event will cause more people to come to officers with their concerns.
The City of Dunbar is also hosting a National Night Out event at 6 p.m. at 12th Street Plaza. The event will feature carnival activities for children and food.
