It was easy being green in the West Virginia Capitol on Tuesday.
About 200 Marshall University staff, faculty and students turned out in the school’s green and white colors for Marshall Day, the annual celebration of all things Thundering Herd during the legislative session.
All day, alumni, students and supporters mingled around various exhibits in the Upper Rotunda. Guests tried out the Bill Noe Flight School’s flight simulator, landing and taking off from a virtual airport. Medical students also were on hand to show off Marshall’s teaching technology, including a virtual anatomy table.
There also were exhibits and representatives from the entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing, energy and cybersecurity programs, among other Marshall activities and educational programs.
Marco — MU’s bison mascot — gaveled in the group in the House chamber, and a legislative citation was read declaring Tuesday as Marshall Day.
“This is an exceptional day,†said Leah Payne, Marshall’s communications director. “We can bring faculty, staff and students ... to the Capitol so that our legislators can see, talk to people and really understand a lot of the initiatives that Marshall has underway. It’s difficult for [legislators] to visit our campus during [the legislative session], so we bring it to them.â€
