HUNTINGTON — Marshall University welcomed approximately 2,300 students into residence halls this week, marking the official start of the 2025–2026 academic year.
Move-in began Tuesday with first-year students arriving on campus to settle into their residence halls. Upperclassmen move in later this week, and the first day of classes begins Monday.Â
The university has also planned Week of Welcome featuring a variety of events to help students become acclimated to campus. Some events include a block party, a career development session led by President Brad D. Smith, and the freshmen convocation on Friday.
On Thursday, there will be a showing of the film "We Are Marshall" at 8:15 p.m. at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The event is free and open to the public.Â
Week of Welcome wraps up Saturday with Rec Fest, at the Marshall Recreation Center from noon-3 p.m., and a carnival on the Memorial Student Center Plaza from 6-8 p.m.Â
