Year after year, Huntington High School’s football coach continues to put superior talent on the field. That’s why the Highlanders are so successful season after season.
And guess what?
There’s no end in sight.
There’s Zah Jackson, for starters. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound defensive back already has offers from North Carolina State and Mississippi State.
Then, there’s Tayveon Wilson. The 6-3, 205-pound wideout is recognized as the No. 1 wide receiver in the Mountain State. That’s why he recently received a scholarship offer from Arkansas.
But the Razorbacks are merely Wilson’s most recent offer. He already had offers from Louisville, Marshall, West Virginia University, Bowling Green, Toledo, Miami (Florida), Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and Appalachian State.
And there’s no indication that the offers won’t keep pouring in for the immensely talented Wilson.
Then, there is also Keegan Sack, a three-star prospect. The 5-10, 195-pound running back is a “hard commit†to the Air Force Academy’s class of 2025.
And the hits just keep right on coming for Billy Seals.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get more contentious …
Team USA made the decision not to include Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark on its 2024 Paris Olympics roster. As folks might guess, this decision isn’t going over very well with many fans.
And because of that, such players as Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi are catching a lot of heat from fans and critics alike, who don’t think they deserve to be members of the team, either.
In case anybody missed it, The Athletic broke the news that Clark has been left off the Team USA roster for the Paris games. In a follow-up report, the 12 players who made the roster included Griner and Taurasi.
Also included are A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Alyssa Thomas, Napheesa Collier, Jewell Lloyd, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper, Sabrina Ionescu and Chelsea Gray.
Now, here’s the catch.
Griner just made her season debut on Friday for the Phoenix Mercury, due to suffering a fractured toe during the preseason. So, the obvious question for fans is: What is Griner doing on the team, while Clark stays home?
Obviously, USA Basketball gives more weight on international experience when constructing a roster.
The question is obvious.
How many viewers will be watching without Clark on the team? It is certain to cost NBC ratings.
Yet, it is clear that USA Basketball puts more emphasis on international experience when constructing a roster. And if that is indeed the case, there’s one issue the coaching staff better be well aware of …
